Kusadasi is in fact one of the premier holiday resorts in Turkey, and so you will find that most major operators like Thomas Cook offer Turkey holidays to Kusadasi, or nearby resorts. In the Kusadasi area, and indeed surrounding resorts, there are an abundance of white sandy beaches that offer safe swimming conditions. In addition, the area is well geared up for watersports and sailing. Water skiing is particularly popular, and the clear waters are ideal for scuba diving. Many operators run flotilla holidays, which offer the chance for novices to try a hand at sailing for the first time, as well as being a convenient way for more experienced sea dogs to enjoy a cruise. Flotillas are groups of ships that travel together, docking at a common port and departing together the next day with the support of a lead boat captained by professional sailors, who are on hand if problems arise. If sailing isn't your thing, there are plenty of options beside sand and sea to keep you occupied on dry land. The food on offer throughout turkey is regularly excellent, with a personal favourite being the 'mezzes' - tapas style small dishes that are served at the beginning of a meal, and in my opinion generally outclass the more well known tapas dishes served in Spain. For kebab fans, I need say no more - Turkey is the home of kebabs. The Kusadasi area has been inhabited by humans for thousands of years, and this has left a legacy of a wealth of historical remains to explore. The ancient Greeks, and then the Romans, and finally the Ottoman empire all occupied the Kusadasi area, leaving their mark. To try to cover just a fraction of this history takes volumes, so the best way to find out more is to start looking for
Turkey holidays, and see for yourself!
